Chocolate Tart

Dark Chocolate Tart

This Dark Chocolate Tart is one of my all-time favorite desserts. It’s simple, classy and elegant. It can be dressed up or down for any occasion, and it’ll impress your “special someone” every time!

To make the crust, you’ll simply grind up some Oreos (or a gluten-free alternative) and mix that goodness with melted butter. Then press the mixture into a 9-inch tart pan and bake for 10 minutes.

When the crust is done (repeat: when the crust is done), heat the cream, add the butter, salt and vanilla and stir until combined. Then, turn off the fire, remove the pan from the hot stove, add the chocolate and stir until melted. Now pour the chocolate into the crust, and you’re done! Simply refrigerate for at least 3 hours and your luscious, delicious, fabulous dark chocolate tart is ready to serve!

Dark Chocolate Tart

Ingredients

For Crust:

25 Oreos (or gluten-free alternative)

5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For Filling:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup unsalted butter

8 ounces dark or bittersweet chocolate

For Serving:

Whipped cream, berries, mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Process cookies in the bowl of a food processor until finely ground. Add melted butter and process again. Press crumbs into a 9-inch tart pan. Bake until set, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Don’t start this step until the crust is done baking … otherwise you’ll have melted chocolate and no place to put it 🙂 Place cream, vanilla and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat. Add butter and stir until melted. Turn off fire and remove pan from heat. Add chocolate and stir until smooth.
  4. Pour filling into crust. Smooth top with a spatula. Refrigerate until filling is set, about 3 hours.
  5. Slice and serve chilled. Top with whipped cream, berries, and fresh mint, if desired.

  1. You mention cinnamon in the instructions, but there is no cinnamon in the ingredient list. I wouldn’t think that cinnamon in this would be a good addition. But that is just me.
